In 1986, Madeleine Lacerte established Galerie Madeleine Lacerte, which later became Galerie Lacerte Art Contemporain. In 1990, Madeleine Lacerte’s son, Louis Lacerte, joined her and has since taken the direction of the gallery and its publishing company.
Lacerte is committed to both supporting established artists and discovering new talents.
Our mandate is to promote talents from Quebec and Canada’s artistic milieu, both nationally and internationally, with a roster of artists reflecting the diversity of today’s contemporary art scene. For this reason, the gallery shows local artists, both emerging and established, as well as internationally celebrated artists. Painting, printing, drawing, photography, sculpture and installations are put forward in a diverse programme counting twelve solos and group shows every year. We represent these artists throughout their career so as to support and help them in their artistic evolution, as well as to develop their contact and relationship with private and public institutions and collectors. The gallery’s strengths are in our diversity and contribution in the primary art market and our expertise in historic Québec secondary market artworks, both in sourcing as well as placing important works in distinguished collections. The gallery’s presence in international contemporary art fairs provided a wider platform, visibility and new collaborations to the artists represented (attending: Toronto International Art Fair, Photo Miami, Palm Beach 3, Art Miami). The gallery publishes various exhibition catalogues yearly and is a member of the Association des galeries d’art contemporain (AGAC). |
